A new chapter for Kilvey Hill is taking shape. Expected to open mid-2028.

Phase 1: Planning & Consent — COMPLETE

Skyline first visited Kilvey Hill in 2017 during a global search for its first European site. Community consultation took place in 2023. A planning application was submitted in November 2023 and approved by Swansea Council in March 2025.

Phase 2: Site Enabling Works — CURRENT

Enabling works are underway. This includes the removal of trees, installation of temporary access routes and site compound, commissioning of slope stability and geotechnical assessments all with ecological supervision. Public access to Kilvey Hill is maintained throughout, although work areas will be fenced for safety reasons, and the public right of way will be rerouted temporarily. Full access will be restored when the works are complete. During this time, Swansea Council will also be making changes to roads, footpaths, and bus stops surrounding the Landore Park and Ride.

Phase 3: Main Construction — UPCOMING

Main construction will include the cable car system, downhill karting (Luge) tracks, food and beverage, adventure playground, and associated infrastructure. Further details and timelines will be confirmed and published here as the project progresses.

Phase 4: Ecological Restoration & Planting — UPCOMING

Tree and shrub planting, meadow seeding, wetland habitat creation through SuDS, and broader landscape restoration will continue alongside and following construction. This work is a core part of our commitment to net-positive biodiversity outcomes.

Phase 5: Opening & Operations — FUTURE

Further details on opening timelines will be shared as the project progresses. Skyline Swansea will be a permanent, long-term visitor destination, creating over 100 jobs for the local area.

We are aiming to complete construction and open the attraction in late 2028. As the project progresses, we will share further details around our timelines, including when the site will be completed and open to the public. Sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear updates.

Skyline Swansea will be situated atop Kilvey Hill and on the eastern bank of the River Tawe. Your journey begins at the base station near the Hafod-Morfa Copperworks site, where you’ll board the gondola and travel up to the hilltop attractions, taking in views of Swansea Bay along the way.

Skyline is designed for everyone. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a family with young children, a first-time visitor to Swansea, or a local looking for something new. Our attractions are designed to be accessible to a wide range of ages and abilities, and the gondola itself is suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs.

Kilvey Hill will remain freely open to walkers and cyclists once the project is complete. Existing paths will be retained and enhanced, so the hill continues to be enjoyed by everyone in the community.
